A Late Introduction

Hello everyone! Some of you may have seen some of my posts, I’ve been around for a few months now, but figured it was time I did a proper intro. I started collecting in 2019 I believe it was… I found the Catapult Troll and Attack Troll busts from SSW in a local store and picked them up. I then searched them up because I loved them so much and saw the Siege Troll and Grond Troll busts, so I got those two from EBay in 2020. How funny it was I thought I would just stop with the 4 troll busts.

Fast forward to now and I have all of the “bad guy” busts from the SSW line including a custom Guritz bust and the Fell Beast and Balrog busts… just need Smaug now (that won’t be fun to track down). I also have 6 1/6 scale statues and am fully addicted! Once I get to 100 posts I’ll be making a “want to buy” post, but for now I’m slowly growing my collection and looking forward to new releases as I have never bought a piece brand new yet (Elendil will 100% be my first)!

Yes funny thinking you can stop at one or a set. My ‘only’ first pieces were the Ringwraith on Steed and the daddy Balrog. 20+ years later and hundreds of pieces later too.

Ya, it only took one for me in 2002 and I was hooked. Hundreds of pieces later, I'm still going as well.

At least the one thing that helps me is that I only collect 1/6 scale statues and the 1/4 scale busts, I’m not interested in weapons or environments or anything else (yet ????) so that helps me narrow things down. Although there is a couple such as Minas Morgul that make me doubt myself on that

Welcome to the forum! My first piece was the SSW Frodo bust which I picked up in a store during a day trip in 2003 (ish - I think)...I was "only going to collect the SSW bust line" originally...needless to say that didn't last long!

well i started only 6 mounths ago and man this hobby is realy addictive and ofc expensive, in begining only want 1/4 but them i saw the bilbo in beg end, and the Argonath and yeah i couldnt resist.

Now i want everthing 1/6, enviroments, 1/4 maybe some weopons, and to be honest i felt inspired from many collections posted here. i want to have a room like that full LOTR.

my wife sometimes look at me and she thinks i am delusional or crazy i supose, but seing my statues everday makes me happy and calm.

So good luck to not buy everthing ehehehe its real hard.

That's exactly how I feel every time I look at our beautiful Weta Wall and all those amazing statues in there. Of course not to forget the statues in the dining room and the hallway. Collecting this masterpieces makes me very happy and there is no way that I will stop collecting in the near future.

I figured I would re-visit this thread to ask you all your opinions on something… I have quite a few of the SSW Busts, mostly the orcs and the “bad side”. I love them but I’m looking for good ideas or examples on how to display them. Anyone have any ideas or examples of how you set up your busts?
