    Sam and Bill the pony

    Hello all!

I'm just wondering, do any of you on here have a rough idea as to what this statue sells for/is worth? I've been offered one for £600 but really not sure if this is worth it or not..
Also, whilst I'm here does anyone have of these for sale??

That’s similar to what I paid for my Sam and Bill a few years ago, it has been the going rate for years now.

Yes, it’s worth it. Wonderful statue, one of the true grails.

If the same statue was made at today’s prices, it would probably be almost twice as much, so you might say it’s still a relative bargain!

      Worth every penny.

I showed a photo of mine to Sean Astin and he was desperate to find one because the one his mother had went missing after she passed away.

Damn, I can't imagine it'd be hard for him to get mind! That's so cool to have shown and spoken to him about it though, makes having one of these that extra bit special. I just bought it for £600! Along with Elven Warrior for £400!

It's just such a shame that you can't just pick these up at retail prices anymore lol, obviously to be expected but my word these statues are so, so expensive now. I bought this for £600 and Elven Warrior for £400 today. Now about to buy Saraman at Palantir for £200 whilst looking for Eomer on Firefoot, Frodo/Arwen at Asfaloth and Lady Eowyn lol

            Fantastic! Enjoy

That’s a very reasonable price for SSW Saruman, less than I paid, I think. Although I was fortunate to find him from a local seller 20 mins away, so no shipping or taxes required.

Weta’s very first statue and one of their best! It’s a special piece and I think will always be the definitive polystone version of the character

From the Weta collector's guide Vol.1:

Watch out for his fingers, they are easy to break and usually have been glued back on by most sellers! I think folks try to put the palantir onto the base after putting Saruman on first, for some reason, which is why the fingers are usually glued back on in secondhand offerings. The best way is to put the palantir onto the base, followed by Saruman afterwards!

              Congrats.

Valar is right on the fingers. Reason for it happening is someone trying to put the palantir and stand on the base AFTER Saruman. Always put the plinth on first.

Thanks Valar and Idril! I am a bit baffled as to why someone would think that's a good idea mind lol

I'd love to get my hands on Sam and Bill the Pony. Such a great looking piece. They are going for $960 USD on eBay atm.

That it is, it's unfortunate that it goes for such a crazy price these days. Weta really needs to release a stand alone Sam in 1:6.
