Let the fanfares sound!
We've already managed to come well into the third month of 2023, but as a certain other award show, this is the perfect weekend to look retroactively back on the year which is past us.
In 2022 both we as human beings and collectible companies could start to recover from the pandemic. (Let's skip the whole discussion if it's over or not). This meant an onslaught of collectibles being released over the year. Since we started voting for "Weta Collectible of the Year", we've never had a higher number of collectibles on the roster than we had for 2022. Add that to all the released products from Prime 1, IronStudios, Asmus and more. And by the announcements we've seen from newcomers like PureArts and Darkside Collectibles - this flood of new stuff does not seem to stop anytime soon. Has there ever been more to choose from for us Middle-earth collectors as it is right now? And then we have those among us that collect Tolkien stuff IN ADDITION to various other licenses. It takes some effort to not be overwhelmed.
Over the next 48 hours we will celebrate the year that was - both regarding the Flame of Udûn message board and Weta collectibles released. For the last two weeks, all you members have had the chance to vote for your favourites and soon the winners will be announced. The winners will receive, in addition to honor and quite the ego boost, a tiny Flamie trophy under their name and avatar.
The moderator team of Valar, Minuialwen, and myself will be the hosts this year, with guest appearances by two really great and influential guys!
We'd love for as many as possible of you members to join in on the festivities. A vibrant and active community is beneficial for us all, but only you can make that happen. Let's make this Flamies Award Ceremony a postathon!
Salút!
