    Hi guys,

Looking around I notice there are many people with questions about UC stuff so instead of making separate threads I thought it would be easier to open one main one.

To start things of I will be posting the first one
How much are Legolas LOTR fighting knives worth these days? They come in the blue box and both the plaque and certificate are also present.

Thanks! And don't be shy with your questions cause I know there are many wise Wizards, Elfs and Dwarves around who live to help

Excuse me Vicksken but not all of 'us' are like this one ...

There are Hobbits here that are 'wise and who live to help' as well.

There are a few Ents as well, but they started to write their first post back in May of 2015 and are now working on their 3rd line.

Vic - there are Lotr Legolas Knives and Hobbit Legolas knives. The Hobbits knife handles are whiter. Apart from a different plaque, I believe the knives are the same.

      Blue box is lotr.

i won't comment on price as others would be more knowledgeable on EU prices than me.

I did forget about the friendly Hobbits and mighty Ents and I will carry the shame of that forever more.

Thanks Idril! Not sure which version I like the most... Why did I pick such a difficult hobby?

What do you mean "difficult hobby"? It's not difficult at all, buy them both. See us hobbits can be most helpful Vicksken.

Lotr Legolas Knives come in two different boxes - blue and brown

I am not sure which one but one of them have whiter handles. I think the ones from brown box. Blades look exactly the same.

wiking thank you so much for those comparison shots. Unlike what Min suggests getting both versions at the moment isn't an option so this truely helps

I didn't know there were two different versions of the LotR version of Legolas knives.

I own one of the versions of the original run but I can't remember what color the box was, and the box is somewhere in the basement and it would take forever to dig it out, but I think it was the brown one. (I bought them from wiking so maybe it's the ones in the picture above?)

Anyway, I also have the Hobbit version, so I can show a couple of comparison of those two.

These are the pictures I got from the seller:
                  $_86 (1)
                  $_86
                  $_85
                  $_85 (1)

To me these look like the LOTR UC version. But shouldn't there be an extra UC sticker on the back?
And is €175 a good price (if it's the real deal)?

Thanks for all your guys help and sweet pictures

I still have both. You bought third one a owned

I have checked where both versions were made (logo on blades) and the whiter were made in China and the darker in Taiwan. Maybe there is something on a box, should be.

There were at least three versions of the Legolas knives from UC that I have owned. Two LOTR versions - one made in Taiwan, and another made in China. The handle shape was slightly different on each. There were several different shades for the handles also. More than just the two above. The newer Hobbit version seems to be the most accurate, but there are at least two different shades of that handle color too!

I'm sure the one I bought had the blue box, and are made in Taiwan. But I'd have said they were the lighter coloured version.

Thanks everyone for your help! I somehow seem to prefer the whiter version, so I'll be keeping my eyes open for that one.

But now I'm already struggling with another question. There seem to be quite a lot of Hadhafangs who have spots on their pommel. Is that treatable or something you just need to live with when it's there?

( I nicked this picture, if you think it's yours and you don't want me to use it, let me know and I will remove it asap)

Is it pitted or worn from mishandling? If so, I think you are stuck with it.

mine has been on display for over 10 years but no issues.

I'm not sure how you can mishandle a sword but I do fear it's something that can't be fixed. The seller said that the brass plating probably needs to be redone and knowing how obsessed I am with my collection being as perfect as possible I probably will have to continue my hunt for this beauty cause fixing it sounds quite expensive

Isn't it just finger marks which have been left there over time? Isn't there a brass polish you could use?

ID:	101406 As the seller, I feel it would be dishonest of me to read and not reply ;) I've owned three of these now, and found all of them had the brass plating wear through slightly after a few years with minimal handling. Perhaps they were from a particular batch, they all seem to have very thin plating. Both the two I now own (inc the one I'm selling) have a small area of spotting/wear on the 'top' face - I have recently looked into getting them replaced, which I think I'm going to have to do, but as I'm working away from home until March - I can't do it yet. Just trying to be open and honest about the condition of the item thats all

Jamie Shakespeare I hope I didn't offend you by posting this here. If I did I'm truely sorry and offer you my sincerest apologies. I was just wondering if this was a common thing or not, wether or not it was fixable and since there are so many UC specialists here... I do want to point out that I have noticed others with the same issue so I assume, based on my limited experience, that there might be a bad "batch" out there. So I wasn't blaming you for mistreating this beauty.
