But there is precedent for them reducing costs due to a change in circumstances. When the John Howe bronze line was announced I think the original price was 6k, which I paid. Then they released the faux bronze line due to outcry over cost and came back to me and refunded me, I think, 1500 dollars, which I was thrilled over.
If they increase the ES on the Eowyn sword I think they should drop the cost to 8500 on both pieces. I bet that would shake loose some scabbard purchases. Something about a 20k+ number is psychologically jarring.

As to what I’m going to choose for my finish I’m still undecided between polish and aged. In the end I’ll probably get aged to match all my other pieces. I want to see some polished pics of it before deciding though. I want to see how the horse heads look all polished up.

Weta sent me good pics of the Boromir sword showing the difference between polished and age. It's a subtle thing for sure. Mirror vs satin, I think I can visualize this, the question is whether the 1k price is worth the overall transformation in the display of the piece, I suppose.
Several folks indicate they are waiting on pics, etc to decide. The email from Weta makes it seem like you need to make all these decisions ASAP, so how much time do we have here???

Depends if it's just the blade or if it's the entire sword that actually gets the mirrored finish. I feel that's where a lot of the uncertainty comes from, at least from my point of view, if the whole sword get's the finish or not, and how much it would differ from what we know from the movies. Really want the mirrored blade, but will probably listen to Peters personal preference and go for satin.
Never bought a custom sword before so feels like a huge decision. On the fence about getting the scabbard as well, so this is 20 years dreaming of getting a sword from the lord of the rings, all piled up in in an email asking me to decide for "option A" or "option B". Want to get it right.

I guess my mirror finished sword might turn into the reference model for those of you who are on the fence and wait for pictures of a production version. I already committed heresy and ordered a mirror finished sword of the Witch King, so I felt I had to get the same for Eowyn. I am quite eager to know how the former turned out. Weta told me the Witch King sword should be done by the end of November, so I am waiting for pictures any day now. I think I might have been the only one who went for mirror finish on that sword since they had no reference photos for me back in July.

If you can afford the scabbard I’d recommend it. Weta makes some really beautiful scabbards. And Eowyns is one of the most ornate of many of them.

Well, it's certainly true to say that "hope springs eternal" and in my case my hope was coupled with a large dose of luck. I've been fortunate enough to be able to acquire MSSC Glamdring #14, and couldn't be more pleased with the piece. As soon as I get it setup with the display case, I'll post some pictures. All I can say is "don't give up" if you're looking for that special piece; sometimes things just end up working out...
