Do you have any photos of a solution which is similar to the one you Are suggesting? I am not entirely sure what you mean by magnetic stand-offs.

I also originally planned to have the swords float by suspending them with fishing-thread fastened to hooks in the roof of the Bertby’s. I tried it with UC Anduril, but it looked kind of bad, so I dropped that idea. Weta included a wall mount bracket for the MSSC sword, but it is made entirely of metal, and does not really seem to fit the guard of the sword in my eyes. I am afraid I will end up scratching the surface of the guard if I use it.

Something like this is what I was thinking, but has a magnet on both ends so the back of your cabinet would have to be metal to work. They also have screw on ones as well so you could use a wooden dowel and screw it to the back of the cabinet at whatever length you want (say 2") and then screw on the magnet. You can paint the dowel black to make it blend in or even cover it with the same felt. Also different color felt to match the movie the sword comes from or the race of the character (Red for Rohan or Two Towers, Blue for Gondor or Return of the King, Black for Mordor, Green for Fellowship).

      or these might work too.

I thought of drawing some schematics of how this could work - in the morning. But this is so much easier N2D

It would have to be very strong magnets if I was to trust a sword that is the price of a used car to them...

just put a strip of duct tape on the contact points. You won’t see it when the sword is resting on the bracket. That’s what I do with my glamdring.

Yes! You my man, speak my language when it comes to attention to details. Love it.

I would suggest also using Philips Hue lightstrips instead of the bright bulbs in the top. The magic of light first becomes magical when you don't see the direct source. With Philips Hue, you can also change / play with colours, which gives beautiful shine and life to your swords.

The picture beneath is from my home office. It doesn't make justice to how it looks in real life, but you kind of get the idea.

Managed to pick up 3 Bertby’s so far, one for UC Anduril, one for MSSC Witch-King and one for MSSC Eowyn. Left room for two more Bertby’s on the wall, so my maximum limit is 5 swords. I will use UC wall plaques for the MSSC swords, since I thought the wall plaque for Anduril looked excellent in this setup. Plan to use the Morgul Dagger plaque (UC Witch-King was not in stock/available for preorder yet at the stores I looked at) for Witch-King and the Eowyn plaque for MSSC Eowyn. As you can see in the photos the plaque for Anduril was a tight fit, barely managed to fit it
nice setup!! Btw where is that art from, the one of Gandalf vs the Balrog? It looks amazing and I’ve never seen that art before.

I love seeing everyone's Master Sword Smith collection photos. I noticed in some of these photos there were tiny black speckles on the blade. I noticed that my Sword of Boromir also has these. Any idea what these are and how to get rid of them?

That’s looks to be a very small bit of old rust in my opinion.I would consult with Peter Lyon at Weta or another swordsmith to confirm and get their opinion on the best way to get rid of it though first. A little bit of autosol and some polishing hopefully should take care of that but I would double check first.

Thar is unless you got the aged/weathered finish on the sword and then it should be there but your sword doesn’t really look weathered to me but it’s hard to tell from the pics.

It’s probably some light rust which is pretty normal to see some over time. The aged swords usually have at least some since Peter usually pits the steel some during the weathering process. It’s hard to tell if you have the satin finish or mirror finish since it doesn’t look like the weathered finish. I’m guessing satin since I think the mirror polish is shinier, but pictures are hard to tell sometimes. You can polish it off with autosol but make sure to use a new microfiber cloth.

That’s black rust. If it doesn’t bother you, you can leave it. Black rust is quite stable and will not progress.

It’s red coloured rust that you need to worry about because that type is active and can continue to progres deeper and deeper into the metal.

if you want to polish it off, I suggest dabbing a bit of metal glo polish on a cotton bud stick. Then proceed to gently rub over the spot. It might take a while, but if the rust is not that deep, you might be able to lift it all off with the metal glo.

Try to limit where you rub. Because polishing can change the surface of your blade.

WOW I've never seen an MSSC Anduril before that's one of ten right? Could you take some more close-up pics please? Do you have the scabbard too?

Woow!! That Andruil is really glowing.

I see Weta's MSSC Orcrist is still available (low stock)...is that not a popular choice among the MSSC collectors?

Damn, someone’s lucky to be able to get one. Someday I’ll be able to acquire one of the Andurils to complete my MSSC. Congrats if anyone in the forum was able to get it.
